Naga: which types it suits

Water Folk

Once it knows what to guard, it'll stay coiled around it for a thousand years.

Naga are serpent beings from the myths of India and Southeast Asia and from Buddhist tradition. They live in rivers, lakes and palaces beneath the earth and are honoured as guardians of water, treasure and sacred places. A famous story tells of a great naga that coiled around the meditating Buddha during a storm and spread its hood over him like an umbrella, and temple stairways across the region still carry naga along their rails.

Read as a personality: a deep sense of responsibility and unshakeable in front of whatever it has to protect. Doesn't say much, but carries real knowledge and insight. Trust takes a long time to earn and, once earned, is never betrayed. Firm principles can make them seem strict, but those principles are almost always there to protect someone.
