Chihuahua: which types it suits

Dog

The world's smallest dog. The world's biggest security alert

The Chihuahua takes its name from the Mexican state of Chihuahua and is generally counted as the smallest dog breed in the world. It is said to descend from small dogs kept in ancient Mexico, and many adults never pass three kilos. Being so small, it feels the cold and loves to burrow under blankets to sleep, and for its size it is a notably long-lived breed.

Read as a personality, the Chihuahua bets everything on one person. With the owner it has chosen it is tender and never far away, but in front of unfamiliar people and dogs it forgets its size, barks first and draws a firm line. Its alertness to small sounds and movements is high, so new places are best introduced slowly, with a safe spot of its own to retreat to.
