Sylph: which types it suits

Sky Folk

Everywhere the wind blows. Nowhere, the moment you try to catch it.

Sylphs are the air spirits named by the sixteenth-century alchemist Paracelsus. Alongside the gnomes of earth and the undines of water, they were thought of as elemental spirits that make up the world, so light and clear they were barely visible. Poems and ballets since have kept returning to the sylph as a symbol of freedom and dreams that can't be held.

Read as a personality: vivid imagination and a deep dislike of being tied down. Thoughts drift like wind, and in that drifting they find beauty others miss. Sensitive enough to respond to the smallest shift in the atmosphere. So light, though, that when a promise or a deadline approaches, they may already have been carried off on the breeze.
