Sunrise Trip: which types it suits
Day trips
The whole sleepless night pays off in the three minutes the sun comes up
A sunrise trip is a date that starts with an alarm. You arrive in the dark, wait shivering, and watch the edge of the sky slowly turn red, and for the few minutes it takes the sun to clear the horizon, you both stare at the same spot without a word. Korea has famous sunrise spots such as Jeongdongjin in Gangneung, where the station sits right by the sea, Homigot in Pohang and Seongsan Ilchulbong on Jeju, but a nearby hill or riverbank works too.
It suits couples who want to share a moment that means something. Lots of people go on New Year's Day or an anniversary, but a random 'want to catch the sunrise tomorrow?' has its own charm. Sunrise time shifts by date and clouds can hide it completely, so not being guaranteed a result is part of the deal.
